1.1.   How to Troubleshoot Deleted Items from Outlook

  • Open Outlook

  • Under the Tools menu

  • Click on Recover Deleted Items

  • For more information about this feature in Outlook consult the Microsoft Outlook Help by selecting F1

 

 

1.2.   How to Troubleshoot Removed Contacts

  • If there is a Contacts folder that you don't want to display in the Show names from the list in the Address Book, do the following:

  • In the Navigation Pane Click Contacts

  • Under My Contacts, right-click the Contacts folder that you want to remove from the Address Book, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu.

  • Click the Outlook Address Book tab, and then clear the Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book check box.

  • Click OK.

  • On the Standard toolbar, click Address Book

  • In the Show names from the list, make sure that the Contacts folder is not displayed in the list.

 

 

1.3.   How to Enable Login Troubleshooting

  • Helpdesk Technicians can use the diagnostic data (log files) to Troubleshoot problems with E-mail Messages if you have a computer on which Outlook 2003 keeps creating many different issues.

  • Go to the Path : C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Local Settings\Temp\Opmlog.log (to find the log files) to find out more from the logs why outlook maybe acting up

  • It must be turned off afterwards

  • Turn off logging On the Tools menu, click Options On the Other tab, click Advanced Options

  •  Clear the Enable logging (troubleshooting) check box, and then click OK two times.

 

 

1.4.   How to troubleshoot the Distribution Lists

  • Go to File go to New Distribution List  

  • On the Select Members tab, in the Name box, type a descriptive name for the list

  • In the Select Members dialog box, click the drop-down arrow next to Show names from the, and select the address book that contains the e-mail addresses you want in your Distribution List.

  • In the Type name or select from list box, type a name you want to include. In the list below, select the name, and then click Members. Do this for each person you want to add to the distribution list, and then click OK.

  • If you want to add a longer description of the distribution list, click the Notes tab, and then type the description.

 

 

1.5.   How to Troubleshoot Email Templates

  • This type of Template maybe used for the Distribution Group

  • It maybe useful for a specific department  (eg: Sales, Business Units, etc.) to make use of it

  • Create an e-mail Template

  • On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Mail Format tab.

  • Clear the Use Microsoft Office Word 2003 to edit e-mail messages check box.

  • Click Apply, and then click OK.

  • On the File menu, point to New, and then click Mail Message.

  • When the New message opens, give it an appropriate subject and compose your content.

  • On the File menu, click Save As.

  • In the Save As type list, click Outlook Template, and then click Save.

  • In the Inbox folder in Outlook, on the Tools menu, point to Forms, and then click Choose Form.

  • In the Choose Form dialog box, click the Look in drop-down arrow, and then click User Templates in File System.

  • Select your Template, and then click Open.

  • Address your message using a Distribution list or other formats

  • In the Open Message, click To.

  • In the Select Names dialog box, in the Show names from the drop-down list, click Contacts
