Installing Exchange
Once the MNS cluster has been
configured, Exchange can be installed. Unlike the previous versions of
Exchange, Exchange 2007 will automatically finish the configuration of Windows
Clustering.
Requirements:
1.
Need an existing Exchange 2007 server installed with the Hub Transport (HUB)
and Client Access Server (CAS) roles installed.
See http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2006/07/24/428424.aspx
for step-by-step walk thru of installing Exchange 2007 Beta 2. You can also
follow Rodney Buike's detailed article at: http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Installing-Exchange-2007-Part1.html
2.
Must have AD Sites & Services setup so the new Exchange Virtual servers
are in a site with an existing Hub Transport and Client Access roles have been
installed.
Exchange Install:
1.
Run setup from the Exchange 2007 CD and click Next> on
first screen

2.
On the next screen accept license and click Next>
3.
Choose to if you want to enabled Error Reporting to Microsoft and click Next>
4.
Choose "Custom Exchange Server Installation" and click Next
>

5.
On the role selection screen click "Active Clustered Mailbox
Role", this will disable all other options

- A clustered Exchange 2007 server only hosts the Mailbox Role.
In
order for users to connect to this server a CA must be in the same site as the clustered server. In addition, a HUB role must also be in the same site to
allow mail flow between users on this server and to\from users on other
Exchange servers. In Exchange 2007, all mail flow is sent though a HUB server
since it contains the transport agents and connectors.
6.
On the Cluster Settings screen the cluster settings configured earlier
in Windows Clustering are entered

a.
Select "Cluster Continuous Replication" (CCR)
b.
Enter in the name of the Exchange cluster NetBIOS name, in my
case it is EXC01
c.
Enter in the IP address for the Exchange cluster IP, 192.168.1.66
in my environment
d.
Click Next >
e.
Select if you have any pre-Outlook 2007 clients and Click Next
>

o Note on
the setting above:
If you do have client computers that are running Outlook 2003 or earlier and
you select Yes, Exchange will create a public folder database on the
mailbox server. If all of your client computers are running Outlook 2007,
public folders are optional in Exchange 2007. If you select No,
Exchange will not create a public folder database on the mailbox server. You can
add a public folder database later if needed.
