Are you missing some common options such as “out of office assistant”, “deleted item recovery” & “Backup” option from the outlook menu? Than you are at the right place for getting that resolved. Read on for how to get this back on to the outlook menus.


Are you missing the below from the Tools Menu

1. “ Out of Office Assistant” 


2. “ Recover deleted items” 


Are you missing the below from the File Menu

3. “Backup”



Than follow the below steps to fix the missing options

The control center to fix all these issues is in the advanced option window. To reach there Click on Tools->Options

Click on the Other Tab

Click on the advanced options button


The two button which controls the appearance of these are

Add-In Manager

COM Add-Ins


To Enable the missing “Out of office assistant” and “deleted item recovery” in the Tools Menu, click on the Add-In Manager button and check the below shown options

To Enable the missing “Backup” in the File Menu, click on the COM Add-Ins button and check the below shown options


If this does not show up than you need to install the Outlook 2002/2000 Add-in: Personal Folders Backup. You can download this Freely from the Microsoft site @

The Pfbackup Add-In is a Free utility from Microsoft to automate the Personal Folder (PST) backups. This is one of the recommended backup methods by Microsoft read more about this at
