Junk Mail – Outlook Solutions

As the Internet has become more and more popular, junk mail has become more intrusive than ever before.  Not a day goes by that one of my e-mail accounts isn’t filled up with blatant advertising and ridiculous e-mails.  While most people would suggest unsubcribing, the problem is that most junk mail has unsubscribe links that don’t work, and if you try to block the sender they just change their name and send you more junk mail.

You can win this battle though, with the power of Microsoft Outlook.  Outlook has several filter options, which can help keep junk mail and spam to a minimum.  Let’s have a look at each of these options:

In order to set Filter Actions you will need to click the Organize button on the toolbar and then choose Junk E-mail.  Outlook will automatically take any actions you select here against junk mail.  You can choose to color your junk mail or even have it moved to a separate folder from your inbox – which will save you time from weeding through the junk mail to get to the good mail.

While this may seem to be the answer to your prayers, you need to remember that just as no one person is infallible, neither are the filtering options.  If Spam senders want to send you their blatant advertising bad enough, they will find a way to get it through.  In these circumstances it’s a good idea to create and maintain a list of known spammers or senders who send junk mail.  This will enable Outlook to send those items directly to the junk mail folder.

While Spam is a problem that will continue as long as people continually try to advertise for free on the Internet, Microsoft Outlook allows you to take steps to prevent the Spam and junk mail from entering your inbox.
