Outlook 2000 exam Objective 1 – Using Outlook 2000 to Communicate – Reading Mail In order to read your mail, you need to first open Microsoft Outlook. After opening Outlook you need to receive your mail, which you can do by clicking the “Send/Receive” button on the Standard Toolbar. This will retrieve messages from all of the e-mail accounts you have configured with Microsoft Outlook. If you wish to receive mail from just one e-mail account select the Tools menu and choose Send/Receive. Then click on the e-mail account you wish to receive e-mail from. Your incoming mail will be displayed in two windows or panes in your inbox. The top pane shows the source and is known as the Header. The bottom pane shows the actual message. In order to read particular messages, you simply need to select the header of the message you want to read, and the message will be displayed in the bottom pane. In order to view your message in a separate Window instead of in the bottom pane, simply double-click on the message header. **Note: You can also navigate through your e-mail using the Previous and Next buttons on the Toolbar.**
