Nov'98 to Oct'99 (12 months)

General Electric - Capital Division

Programmer/Analyst (Contractor W2)  - "Calypso" is a new project to automate Claims processing for the entire Long Term Care product line. This is a moderately large project estimated for 7 to 10 programmers for one+ year. When I joined the team, as one of the three senior programmers, no code had been written. I am participating in all start-up, planning, life cycle, and development stages. Extensive analysis and data architecture has already been done. I am acting as mentor to several junior programmers. The application is being written in a logical three tier architecture using VB 6.0 to Microsoft SQL 7.0 and employing one DCOM server using exclusively ADO. Heavy object orientation.

My primary duty will be to design, code, and test the central calculation engine used to analyze claim payments and verify validity of claims based on rather complex date, dollar, and eligibility parameters. Engine is being built with extreme robustness as a primary goal thus mandating pursit of meta-rules logic stored in the RDBMS as the primary method of addressing business and calculation rules.
