The subject says it all, attached to this message is an Outlook 97 form, that is setup to display Company information only. It also has a button that will update all contacts in the current folder that belong to the same company as this form. NOTE: It will only update contact fields that are not blank on the Business or Details page of the Company form.

Installation:

  1. Save the attached Outlook Template to your harddisk.
  2. Open the attached template.
  3. Use 'File - Publish Form as'
  4. Use 'Company' as the form name
  5. Click 'Publish In...' to select your 'Contacts' folder, publishing to your Contacts folder, will add a 'New Company' menu item at the bottom of the Contacts menu. Storing the form in your 'Personal Forms' will force you to use 'Contacts - Forms' to select the form.
  6. Click 'Publish'

Now to use the form,

  1. Use 'Contacts - New Company' (based on above steps) to create a new company.
  2. Enter the company information you want common to a group of contacts
  3. Save the company
  4. Click 'Update Contacts' to update the common information, the company needs to be saved first

Enhancements include:

  • New 'Details' tab with more fields. These fields will be updated on matching Contacts if these fields are not blank.
  • Support for copying 'Business Address PO Box', NOTE: this field is not displayed.
  • Quicker performance gained by using Find and FindNext for Contacts from this Company.
  • Support for optional 'Office Location'. If 'Office' is filled in on the 'Business' tab, form will only update Contacts matching both Company & Office, otherwise will only update Contacts matching Company. Will not update other Companies.
  • Better handling of 'Categories'. If company Categories are filled and Contacts categories are blank, then the Contacts Categories will be set to the Companies, otherwise the Contacts Categories is left as is.
  • Addition of Notes field, this field will not be copied to matching Contacts.
  • Fixed 'lost' focus bug, the frames I use for the lines would get the focus, but user of form would not know it...
  • NOTE: You should just need to install this, because I do not 'save formdefinition with item' any companies in your Contacts Folder will automatically use the new form!
