Persistent database connection example
The attached files demonstrate how to create a persistent database connection using a class object encapsulated in a DLL. Using Visual Basic 5.0 you can run the test project (wholly within VB). You can compile the code or simply run regsvr32.exe to register the enclosed DLL. To experiment with Outlook, create a custom form with a single command button named "cb2" and publish the form to a folder of your choice (usually Personal Forms). Feel free to email me with any questions or comments. You'll also need to create a 32-bit ODBC Data System Name using the Control Panel applet. For the attached example, I created one named "testDSN" and pointed it to the enclosed mdb file location. Good luck!
